We’ve been given a gift. What are you doing with it?

Life experiences shape who we are as individuals and as business owners. A few weeks ago we were given a gift. Some don’t see it that way, but the COVID-19 pandemic has given us a rare gift of time. What are you doing to make the best use of this gift?

I’m going out on a limb and assuming many of you don’t think that the COVID-19 pandemic is a gift. Of course, these unprecedented times has caused tremendous hardships, sickness, death, and insecurity. But, this pandemic has opened my eyes to what really matters in my life and has drawn me closer to my family, my clients, and my faith.

As Americans, we are wired to work hard and play even harder. Our non-stop work ethic overshadows our life priorities of family, fitness, faith, and so much more. We’ve been forced to stop. Stop rushing from meeting to meeting, stop logging off one call just to join another, stop having unnecessary face-to-face meetings (that really could be emails, right?), stop waking up before the chickens and burning the midnight oil, stop running back and forth to 15 soccer and baseball games in one weekend.

If I am being honest, I have been PRAYING for years about stopping all the unnecessary ‘busy’ in my life so that I could reconnect with family over a board game, have NO obligations on evenings or weekends, and most importantly, TIME to catch up on my growing list of tasks and ideas that I have in mind for my clients, but never had time to execute.

I’m sad that it took a worldwide health pandemic for this to happen, but, because my family and all those I care about are healthy and safe, I can take this time to reflect, innovate, strategically plan for the next step, relax, get grounded, give back, and re-commit myself to my highest priorities. Those priorities are all pretty clear right now.

So, what are you doing with the rare gift of time that you’ve been given? Don’t waste it. Embrace it and plan for your future. It may look a little different now, but the future is brighter than it’s ever been. If you’d like to brainstorm about how your business can come out of this on top, let’s have a call. I love to brainstorm!

Stay safe, stay home, stay healthy. Until we see each other again!
