We’ve just about made it through 2020 and what I hear from everyone now is how ready we are to be done with 2020! While January 1, 2021 is not a magical day where everything is back to “normal,” it does give us a new start. And that includes a review and refresh on your marketing tools.
I hope you’re seeing the good signs that I am, such as new businesses opening, some businesses thriving and giving back to the community. Even meetings and events are starting to be scheduled in 2021. My feeling is business and events are going to come back strong. People have the pent-up energy and desire to do things and go places and dance in the street!
So, let’s get ready for the REBOUND!
Check your marketing plan – how will potential customers know you’re in business? Has your operation or products changed? Now is the time to have that new message refined and out into the world.
What are your planned points of contact? That’s one thing COVID19 has taught us – we need to be creative and do something different to keep in touch with our customers. Mailings? — actually sending a postcard or a gift in the mail gets you noticed now more than ever. Stuff. Mail. Repeat.
Check your social media – we’ve been taught that you can’t be everything to everyone on every social media platform. You’ve had time to learn and refine what the best sources are for reaching your customers, so focus on those. Keep in mind over the past 9 months everyone is overloaded with social media, so be short, sweet and make it appealing to your ideal customer.
Who can you partner with? Another great result of our recent business limitations has been creative partnerships. What business or product would compliment yours? Just think how joint marketing could reach even more potential customers.
Update your marketing tools – Part of being ready for the rebound is to check your marketing materials, promotional products and sales tools. Do they need updating after changes in the last several months? Don’t wait until the last minute to have marketing tools ready. Get your SWAG ready! Your advertising promotions and marketing materials will be needed. They’re being mailed to attendees for zoom meetings and events already, so you still have that marketing opportunity, and soon we’ll be back to handing them out in person.
